Brunel Brass / GWYB Quiz Night

Brunel Brass – the progression band for GWYB  – are holding a Quiz Night to raise funds to enable them to take part in the National Finals of Great Britain later this year.  They recently qualified for the finals, which is a remarkable achievement for the band, especially as this is the 5th time in 10 years they have played at this level.  Many young players from the youth band have moved up through the ranks to join Brunel Brass and will be playing in the finals in Cheltenham.

Please help support their fundraising efforts by getting a team together and coming along – details below.

Residential Weekend

Sunday 24/4

A great concert at the end of a great weekend!

Thanks to everyone involved from David Hirst, our guest conductor, to John Winterflood, all our tutors who gave up their weekend to get involved and all the committee members who helped organise the event!

Saturday 23/4

A busy and fun day on Saturday.  Rising Stars joined us for the morning rehearsal and then had fun in the pool or the park.  Youth band had rehearsals throughout the day with the social time in the afternoon and fun games in the evening.  Copious amounts of biscuits and cakes have been consumed and they all looked shattered by the end of the day!!  Another busy day ahead on Sunday before our concert in the afternoon at St Andrew’s Church to showcase what has been done over the weekend.

Friday 22/4

The start of a busy weekend for the band.  All arrived safely and once everyone had been allocated rooms and unpacked bags, dinner was quickly consumed and rehearsals were under way!  Followed by doughnuts and a quiet(ish) hour before bed and hopefully some sleep before a busy day tomorrow.
