How do I join?
The band are always looking for new players to join, whatever standard. The Rising Stars band includes members who have only been playing for a few months and the Youth Band includes players who are currently practicing for their diplomas. The Intermediate Band – as their name suggests – fills the gap between the other two bands. It has children and young people who have been playing for more than a few months but are not yet at the standard necessary for playing in the Youth Band.
The band has strong links with local brass teachers and would be happy to put you in contact with them. Whether the teaching is in schools or privately, teachers always encourage players to get involved in a brass band and through their own experience, know how much enjoyment it can bring.
The most important involvement, is that of young people. If you are 18 or younger and would like to start learning to play a brass instrument, here is your chance! We can usually provide an instrument (stock of specific instruments will vary) and basic tuition and professional help on a Saturday morning will be given. You will start in a band of players of similar standard then you can progress to other bands in our organisation as you improve. If you think you might be interested in joining, please contact us and we can give you more details and answer any questions.
